What happened
Anthropic announced on September 15, 2026 the launch of Salesforce in Claude, a Beta plugin built jointly by Anthropic and Salesforce that pulls account, opportunity, and pipeline data from Salesforce directly into the Claude chat window, without switching over to the Salesforce app.
The plugin ships with 37 prebuilt skills covering the full range of sales work, from account research and call preparation to pipeline review and automatic CRM updates. Anthropic’s announcement emphasizes that it assembles information scattered across Salesforce, email, call recordings, and Slack into a single workflow.
What it can do
According to Anthropic’s announcement
- Daily briefing bringing together meetings, deals about to close, and at-risk opportunities in one place
- Call prep that pulls account history and flags stakeholders who haven’t been reached yet
- Deal scoring and close plan generation to assess a deal’s status and draft the path to close
- Automatic post-call summaries and Salesforce updates
- Interactive pipeline dashboards with forecasting
- A Slack connector that summarizes activity in each deal’s channel
Data access and model training
Anthropic states that Claude only reads data the seller’s own Salesforce permissions allow. Sellers sign in with their own Salesforce credentials, and by default any change to Salesforce records requires the seller’s approval first rather than being applied automatically. On company data, Anthropic writes plainly: “On Team and Enterprise plans, we don’t train our models on your data by default.”
Availability and setup
The plugin is in Beta, available on all paid Claude plans, but requires an organization admin to set it up first. Admins request access through AgentExchange, connect Salesforce once for the entire organization, and then choose which teams get access (the full setup guide is at support.claude.com).
About 7,000 sellers are already using it at GitLab, Siemens, and Legora. Alexa Vignone, President and Chief Revenue Officer at Salesforce, said: “With Salesforce in Claude, sellers can start the day with the pipeline review already done and the account history already there.” David Eckstein, CFO at Legora, added: “With Salesforce in Claude, our sellers turn live data into meeting briefings in seconds instead of hours.”
Part of a larger partnership
This plugin is one piece of a broader partnership called Claudeforce between Anthropic and Salesforce, announced earlier on August 26, 2026. Other components include Claude powering Agentforce’s Atlas Reasoning Engine and Claude becoming the default model behind Slackbot. Read the full partnership details in Salesforce’s press release.
Editor’s take
This lines up well with the theme of our own Meetup 3, putting AI to work on real business problems. Sales teams switching between multiple apps to prep for a customer call is a familiar pain point, and pulling that data into one place should genuinely save time. What stands out to me most is the access control and the approval step before any CRM edit, Anthropic designed this so the seller still makes the final call rather than letting the AI change customer data on its own. For sales teams already on Salesforce, this looks well worth trying.
