Claude Code raises weekly limits 25% permanently, but it is a real 17% cut from today
Anthropic is permanently raising Claude Code weekly limits by 25% starting September 14, for Pro, Max, Team, and seat-based Enterprise. But that 25% is measured against the old baseline, not the boosted quota everyone is using right now.

ClaudeDevs, Anthropic’s official developer account, announced that starting September 14, 2026, Claude Code’s standard weekly limits will get a permanent 25% increase for Pro, Max, Team, and seat-based Enterprise plans. The post says it plainly: “Until then, the current 50% increase will be in place”, meaning the boosted quota everyone has right now keeps working normally until that date.
What baseline is that 25% measured against
The detail worth reading carefully: that 25% is calculated against the old baseline from before the promotion, not against the quota everyone is actually using right now, which has been temporarily boosted by +50% since mid-year (a promotion that’s been extended multiple times).
Once September 14 hits, that +50% bonus expires, and gets replaced by a permanent +25% off the old baseline instead. In numbers:
- Old baseline = 100
- Today’s boosted quota = 150
- From September 14 (+25% off the original 100) = 125
Compared to what you’re using today (150), that drops to 125, a real 17% cut.
What Anthropic is saying about it
In a follow-up post in the same thread, Anthropic said it’s working on interface changes to give clearer visibility into remaining quota and more control over usage, aiming to keep the platform “feeling productive” even with tighter limits. No further detail on what those changes actually are has been shared yet.
Worth noting: that -17% figure appeared in a follow-up reply in the thread, not in the main announcement post most people saw first, to the point that people attached a Community Note to the main post to make it more visible.
Writer’s take
I think Anthropic chose to be upfront here rather than trying to bury the -17% figure. That said, anyone running heavy usage right now will definitely feel the change after September 14. If your work depends on a high weekly limit, it’s worth planning for this now.
How much do you think this will affect your work? Are you already hitting more than half your weekly limit regularly? Let’s talk about it in the group.
