What’s changing
ClaudeDevs, Anthropic’s official account for developers, announced on 18 August 2026 US time, 19 August in Thailand, that the promotion raising Claude Code weekly limits by 50% is being extended through 31 August.
The announcement adds that Anthropic hopes to make the higher limits a permanent part of its plans, but that strong demand for its models means capacity may be tight over the coming weeks, and that it will keep people posted as things develop.
It has now moved three times
The end date of this promotion has been pushed back three separate times.
- 13 July was the original end date.
- 13 July, Anthropic extended it to 19 July.
- 18 July, it was extended again to 19 August, with an explicit note that it applies to all Pro, Max, Team and seat-based Enterprise users.
- 18 August, it was extended to 31 August, which is the latest announcement.
What you actually get
Your weekly allowance for Claude Code sits 50% above your plan’s normal weekly limit for the length of the promotion. If your plan normally covers 100 units of work a week, this period gives you roughly 150.
The increase applies to Claude Code only. Limits on other Claude products are unchanged. Per the promotion terms reported when it was announced back in July, free plans and consumption-based Enterprise seats are not eligible.
The part worth reading carefully
“Hopes to make this permanent” is not a commitment that it will be. This announcement is still a dated extension, just like the three before it, and Anthropic attached its own capacity warning to it. If you’re planning work that leans on the extra headroom, plan for the possibility that limits revert after 31 August.
The writer’s take
Repeated extensions like this, and this is the third one, suggest to me that demand really has run ahead of what Anthropic planned for. Users like us keep the benefit for now, but if you’re mapping out longer work that depends on high limits, I don’t think you can call it permanent yet.
Anyone here running Claude Code hard? Have weekly limits actually stalled your work? Come tell us in the group.
